Murchison district wood production plan for 2006/07

Murchison district covers a greater part of the west and north-west coast of Tasmania including the Tarkine. These logging plans clearly show that parts of the Tarkine are still under threat.

Clearfell of native forest potentially accounts for 3,411 hectares in the Murchison district, in the current harvesting year.

The Google map markers below show the planned harvest for Forestry Tasmania as at 7/5/06.

Each marker is clickable and will show details of that coupe and a link through to the relevant pdf on Forestry Tasmanias(FT's) website.

A list of converted Latitudes and Longitudes, Eastings and Northings in WGS84 are available as a Murchison clearfells pdf for easy viewing, a csv file to load into Excel and in xml format to manipulate.

Key:

Clearfell State Forest converted to Hardwood Plantation
Clearfell, return to native forest
Thinning, selective and aggregated retention logging
Other, as outlined on individual coupe descriptions

Forestry Tasmania states the following about these coupe maps,

The coupes shown here are of a provisional nature. The maps show the indicative location and extent of the intended harvest operation from preliminary planning processes.

Final field boundaries and operational specifications will be determined following detailed field surveys and community consultation and will be documented in a Forest Practices Plan.

These Plans are prepared prior to the commencement of the harvesting operation and are available for inspection at the local Forestry Tasmania District office.
